On the subject of organizational alignment…
Here is an interesting quote from French author Antoine St. Exupery who served as a reconnaissance pilot during WW II. He wrote a trilogy entitled Airman’s Odyssey consisting of three books, “Night Flight,” “Wind Sand and Stars,” and “Flight to Arras” and included many of his thoughts while flying at night behind enemy lines.
Quote: “Love does not consist in gazing at each other, but in looking outward together in the same direction.”
There is a parallel of sorts. In business it’s important to get all personnel “looking outward together in the same direction.” Mission statements, vision statements and strategic plans can help accomplish this type of alignment.
